Day -5: Berlin Review IV: Home
There's no place like ... no, wait, there are several actually. Just recently I've been to the Anhalter Bahnhof, a place where I lived for about two years some time ago. And while I can still say that the building I lived in is one of the ugliest to be found in today's Berlin, my memories of the time in the tiny 30m² apartment are overwhelmingly positive.
University was something I liked back then, money was not an issue, I could do what I want, I had healthy relationships ... and the surroundings of that place had a very positive aura for a reason. Do I want to go back to that time? Maybe. I do not miss the ugly facade, the "dirty back
Day -11: Intro + Berlin Review I
Before I start with the actual journal here: After some experiments with my own blog (which does not work due to tech issues + laziness) I decided to give DA another shot. I will be on a trip to some far-off location in a little less than two weeks and I want to document it. But before I do, I have to post some other photos here, since the blog is down and there are attention whore needs to be satisfied. I will cover topics with more than one photo each, so the comment function is not exactly perfectly suited for this. Meh. Anyway, let's start with sunday's expedition. Just keep in mind that I have to post the photos before I can link them in

Alexanderplatz. It's easy enough to think that with more than 3 million inhabitants in an area of 800 km² there is more than one "most important" location in Berlin. Not for me. The Alexanderplatz is THE place to be. It is one of the few areas of which I have memories from before the fall of the Berlin Wall. And since then, it has been the location to meet people, to start journeys, to relax, to shop, and of course to take photos.
And what a place this is for photography! Its architecture is nothing too special (but still interesting enough!), but there are always at least a few dozen people among thousands who just need to be photograp

Friedrichstraße. The area around the station has always been one of my favorite places to take photos. When I bought my first digital camera, I tested it here - I actually did some long-exposure elevator shots, before I realized how dreaded they can be, especially on DA. I also had two Daily Deviations here (long deleted during emo phases) and shot some of the few photos I sold. One picture was shown in the local subway as well.
I always consider it to be one of the few locations in Berlin which make you feel you're in one of the more important cities of the world, but I guess this also means the moment you stop walking you'll slow some
